When the sun is a scorching 50 degrees life does come to a halt. With workers getting mid day breaks and schools closing for the summers the streets get deserted and everything comes to a stand still really.

We took a short break to yet another hot place with the promise of intermittent rain but the days we were in Dubai we did not spend them cooped up at home bored and lost. Thanks to the Dubai Summer Surprises my five year old was able to see his favourite characters on stage including the incredible Thomas train and friends, Dora the Explorer and Mowgli from The Jungle Book. His school project had us doing some touristy things in Dubai– the abra ride and a visit to Jumeirah Mosque at night.
