SALAM, a calligraphy exhibition at Tashkeel, Dubai

A revered art form, with ancient roots, calligraphy, has been evolving continuously over the years. At Tashkeel,  Nad al Sheba, Dubai, SALAM, a group exhibition presents a contemporary re-interpretation of Arabic letters through modern typography and calligraphy practices.

Curated by Dubai-based multidisciplinary designer and calligrapher Ibrahim Zaki, the exhibition celebrates the beauty of language while reflecting the universal idea of peace and the spiritual values that marked the Holy Month of Ramadan. The artworks represent values of compassion, unity and patience associated with the season.

Open to the public from March 13, 2026 to April 13, 2026, the exhibition highlights a range of artistic practices that move beyond traditional calligraphy to include experimental letterforms, contemporary typography, abstract compositions and visual interpretations of language. Through these creations,  artists explored how Arabic letters can serve as a powerful visual language capable of communicating spiritual and cultural ideas in contemporary forms.
