Record-Breaking Longest Abstract Painting Made in Dubai
Over 100 artists in the UAE came together to create an impressive 100 metre long abstract painting, setting a new record, recognized by the Asia Book of Records. On March 8th 2025, several artists from across the UAE gathered at the Camel Uschi Farm in Al Qudra desert to create this unique art collaboration helmed together by the Dubai International Art Center (DIAC) in association with Namaste India Magazine.
Working in groups of 10, with mentor artists guiding them, the participants achieved the new record in a span of 45 minutes. Representing the multi-culturalism of UAE, the artists from various nationalities are based across the emirates. “It was a splendid community effort. By setting the record, we shared in the collective joy of having made it possible,” said Diyali Sen Bhalla, Chairperson of DIAC.
On a warm Ramadan day, the 100 metre long canvas was laid out on the table as artists created abstract works and global landmarks in acrylic paints. The event was attended by eminent Emirati artists, Khalil Abdul Wahid and Ahmad Al Awadhi (Rukni) as well as renowned Lebanese artist Nassim Nasr.
“Artists brought their unique styles in this record-setting art initiative. Post the event, we have found tremendous positive response from the art community. We have also had a lot of interest from other art organizations who want to collaborate with DIAC in future. We are thankful to all our sponsors and special guests who encouraged us,” said Bhalla.
Organized under the leadership of Bhalla, Sudhir Salunke, Chairperson of Namaste India Magazine, Sahira Ameen, Center Manager, DIAC and Mohammad Shaheen, Administrator at DIAC, the endeavour will go down in history as a monumental celebration of global unity and artistic collaboration in the UAE.
