Sometime in December we went on a long drive to Kalba. The original plan was to do a picnic on Kalba creek or near the mangroves. But because of a late start the picnic turned out to be just a drive with a short halt near the creek and for snacks in between.

Kalba is part of Sharjah, north of Oman and south of Fujairah. The drive from Dubai should ideally take about two hours. But we had to endure traffic snarl ups because it was December 2- the UAE national day and so the drive took us almost three to four hours one way. On national day UAE residents show patriotic fervor by decorating their cars with posters, balloons, ribbons and teddy bears. There are car parades and best car awards. We also captured some of the crazy car décor enroute.

Boats aplenty

I just loved the two blues merging into each other– the blue from the sky and the blue from the ocean
