In India, July is the month of rains, spicy pakoras and lots of chit-chat over cups of steaming coffee. A time when you can just sit and witness the clouds pouring through the twinkling leaves of tall trees, smell the freshness of wet mud, feel the cool breeze, wipe the mist from the window and watch splashes from the puddles on the streets. In contrast there seems to be no signs of any such monsoon magic in sand-stormed-UAE.
In this rainy reverie I am transported to our holiday in Kerala during the monsoons last year. We stayed at Wild Palms on the Sea, a resort near Thiruvananthapuram, with access to a secluded private beach. Nestled amidst coconut trees, the resort is really a home stay run by Justin and Hilda Pereira.

Perfect place to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather and when the rains come crashing you can take cover in the coconut grove behind.
The overcast sky says that there is a storm brewing
Time for the fishermen to get their boats ashore

We sat for hours in that balcony watching the waves crashing on the beach ahead.
