Finding a $100 bill on the road is a windfall we all desire. In her latest book Dream On, Dubai-based artist and author Sheetal Durve weaves in stories centered around the unexpected discovery of $100 through the lives of her central characters. Schoolmates Jeremy and Rushil and a Syrian refugee Mohammad experience a range of emotions as the $100 impacts their lives in unique ways – igniting hope, happiness and a reason to dream. Through a series of coincidences Sheetal connects the three stories together teaching youngsters values of harmony, choices, friendship, love and hope.

“Dream On is my attempt at, subtly yet effectively, showcasing some life lessons. Things might not go as planned. But it is still important to make the best of what you have and to adapt to it with a smile. Find happiness in small things, don’t give up and always be grateful is what I wanted to say through the book,” she tells.
Targeted at children between the age group of 8 to 14 years, Dream On is Sheetal’s second book. Her first book Dream Diaries featured creative and heart-warming stories for children between ages 4 to 8.

For her illustrations, the artist used a mix of acrylic colours, charcoal pencil with a brown paper collage. “I have mainly used pastel shades of primary colour, using each hue to highlight the mood or emotions experienced by the characters. While I write the images also come to my mind, and I know exactly how they would look on paper,” shares Sheetal.
