25 reasons to drink Green tea

I was once a milk tea junkie who could not do without at least three cups of masala or ginger tea. But an ailment two years ago forced me to give up this passion completely and pick up the healthier green tea. My all time favourite in green teas is Lipton lemon green tea. I […]

Weekend finds

Thursday evening was spent partly at the Sharjah Ramadan Eid fair at the Expo Centre and at Al Qasba. I went with least expectations to the fair and came back with a wide grin and a shopping bag full of some interesting buys. Local handicrafts as well as wares from several countries were on display. […]

Jackfruit dumplings/Kumbal appam

As a child my summer vacation was usually spent at my grandparents’ house in Kerala. Like my own mom, grandma was a great cook who indulged us with many delicious dishes each day of our stay.  One of my favourite breakfast dishes was jackfruit dumplings called kumbalappam. Its been more than a decade since grandma left […]

Sinfully delicious

A batch of melt-in-the mouth chocolate topped biscuits from La Fragola Cafe Gelateria in Sahara Centre, Sharjah made my day ????

Monsoon memories

In India, July is the month of rains, spicy pakoras and lots of chit-chat over cups of steaming coffee.  A time when you can just sit and witness the clouds pouring through the twinkling leaves of tall trees, smell the freshness of wet mud,  feel the cool breeze, wipe the mist from the window and […]

Interestingly, unlike many other plants that wilt in the scorching sun, the date palm needs summer heat and low […]

Baked treats from Sindibad

We frequent this delightful little bakery in Qasimia, Sharjah called Sindibad. You can find an array of freshly baked buns, muffins, breads, snacks, kuboos and local sweets. I particularly like their sausage rolls, mini pizzas and date buns. My cuppa of coffee with my favourite snacks.

On the trail of the Gulmohars

The heat might be a sweltering 40 degrees now but the charming Gulmohar (Flame tree) blossoms seem to withstand it all. From parks to sidewalks I spot them everywhere these days — merrily swaying their branches in gay abandon. The bright orange coloured flowers are an instant mood-lifters. As children we used to open up […]

Enjoying the outdoors at Mamzar park

It’s almost time to bid adieu to spring. A time of the year close to my heart when I love to head outdoors to enjoy the breeze and the beautiful colours of nature.  To compensate for all the miles of sand dunes and queues of high-rises the emirates has a small number of community parks that help […]
